Spain is such a gorgeous country! The beaches and water are so beautiful, I highly recommend staying in the less touristy and beautiful Nerja. From Nerja we drove to Marbella which also had gorgeous beaches. Arcos was our next stop and wow was it breathtaking! The old area where we stayed is on the edge of a huge cliff and the views are incredible. The town itself has really retained it's old world charm as well with it's ornate cathedrals and crazy narrow winding cobble streets. Jerez was a great day-trip from Arcos as we were able to go on a Sherry tour at one of the oldest Sherry producers, "Sandemans"! Jerez is where true Sherry originates, much like Champagne is from a region in France. :-) Sevilla was our next stop and is such a romantic city, full of culture and life. The winding streets are also highly confusing and we got lost walking almost constantly, haha. Cordoba was a short stop on our way north as we really wanted to see the Mezquita, which is this incredible ~1300 year old Mosque/Cathedral. Definitely see this if you're ever in Spain, it is amazing! Toledo reminded me alot of Arcos in that it was very old world with the narrow winding cobble streets. They also originated, some thousand years ago, one of my favorite deserts, Marzipan, yumm! From Toledo we headed up to Aranda de Duero for a few days of Tempranillo tasting in wine country. Red wine is one of my favorite things, so this was an especially awesome stop. There are grape vines as far as the eye can see here and massive beautiful wineries. Our final stop in Spain was the bustling though still old world charming Madrid. They have some great restaurants, clothes shopping and nightlife here and we experienced it all, or as far as shopping is concerned as much as could fit in my suitcase, haha. :-) Our suitcases were each 5lbs over the airport limit haha but the baggage guy let it go, phew! I did end up with one shoe in my purse though cause it tipped the scale slightly too far, haha.
Ok, so I know I look unhappy here, but really I was happy on the inside, my outside was just reeeally tired from having to wake up at 4am for our flight to Spain. haha This is the best travel outfit ever, the dress is such a comfy unwrinking cozy cotton, and the hat is perfect for keeping bad travel hair under wraps. :-)
