Spain! :-D

I'm back from my AMAZING honeymoon in Spain.  :-D  It was a whirlwind adventure as we were trying to experience as much of the country as we could in 2 weeks. :-)  We rented a car and drove along the south coast from Nerja and then up through the center, ending in Madrid. These were the places we stopped in, usually about 2 nights per place if we could. I'll try and keep it brief cause I really could go on and on about it. :-)  I'll also spare you the ~500 pictures we took, of which viewing my brother in law fell asleep during, haha.  In this post I've just picked a handful that show some of the items i wore of what would fit in my suitcase, haha.

Spain is such a gorgeous country! The beaches and water are so beautiful, I highly recommend staying in the less touristy and beautiful Nerja. From Nerja we drove to Marbella which also had gorgeous beaches. Arcos was our next stop and wow was it breathtaking! The old area where we stayed is on the edge of a huge cliff and the views are incredible. The town itself has really retained it's old world charm as well with it's ornate cathedrals and crazy narrow winding cobble streets. Jerez was a great day-trip from Arcos as we were able to go on a Sherry tour at one of the oldest Sherry producers, "Sandemans"! Jerez is where true Sherry originates, much like Champagne is from a region in France. :-)  Sevilla was our next stop and is such a romantic city, full of culture and life. The winding streets are also highly confusing and we got lost walking almost constantly, haha. Cordoba was a short stop on our way north as we really wanted to see the Mezquita, which is this incredible ~1300 year old Mosque/Cathedral. Definitely see this if you're ever in Spain, it is amazing! Toledo reminded me alot of Arcos in that it was very old world with the narrow winding cobble streets. They also originated, some thousand years ago, one of my favorite deserts, Marzipan, yumm! From Toledo we headed up to Aranda de Duero for a few days of Tempranillo tasting in wine country. Red wine is one of my favorite things, so this was an especially awesome stop. There are grape vines as far as the eye can see here and massive beautiful wineries. Our final stop in Spain was the bustling though still old world charming Madrid. They have some great restaurants, clothes shopping and nightlife here and we experienced it all, or as far as shopping is concerned as much as could fit in my suitcase, haha. :-) Our suitcases were each 5lbs over the airport limit haha but the baggage guy let it go, phew! I did end up with one shoe in my purse though cause it tipped the scale slightly too far, haha.

Ok, so I know I look unhappy here, but really I was happy on the inside, my outside was just reeeally tired from having to wake up at 4am for our flight to Spain. haha  This is the best travel outfit ever, the dress is such a comfy unwrinking cozy cotton, and the hat is perfect for keeping bad travel hair under wraps.  :-)

J Crew Fall Inspiration Part 2

Another look that I loved from my J Crew Fall 2011 catalog, which I was curious if I could capture the feel of on a more modest budget, is this fun casual chic one.  :-)

The J Crew Inspiration...

J Crew Cashmere Boyfriend Cardigan (Bright Dahlia)  $198
J Crew Boy Shirt in Stripe Crepe (Henna)  $110
J Crew Farrow Trouser (Storm Grey)  $148
Two-Tweed Fedora (Grey)  $58
Darby Calf Hair Penny Loafers  $298
A Thrifty Alternative...

Yes the Thrifty Alternative look is a tad more dressy than the J Crew Inspiration, but that's more my style and I know I'd feel more comfortable this way. :-)  The Sole Society Leopard shoes I've actually ordered and am so excited to receive! I own several pairs of their shoes and they all are beautiful, high quality and comfortable. I also absolutely love this Modcloth top (especially with the Abercrombie Clara tank layered underneath), and have ordered clothes from them before, and have never been disapointed; I think I may order this top as well.  :-)
What do you think?

Pike Place

Labor day weekend was perfect. Celebrated a friend's birthday Friday, took the motorcycles up to Leavenworth on Sunday, and hung out at Pike Place Market in Seattle on Monday. Love long weekends. :-) Unfortunately I didn't get any pics at Leavenworth due to some poor last minute planning on my part haha, but it's this really fun little Bavarian town that you should definitely visit if you're ever in Washington. We're thinking about visiting again for Octoberfest, yay!  Pike Place was also great, it's one of those places where you can just wander for hours looking at cool arts and crafts, sample amazing food, and bring home the largest freshest bouquets of flowers and pounds of seafood imaginable! The pictures we took were from later in the evening since it was way too crowded there earlier to get any good shots. Unfortunately this meant that all the interesting booths and such were closed up, but on the bright side we were able to take advantage to photograph in the really cool historic interior.

I was going for a fresh, flirty, fun look and so wore my favorite adorable necklace, ruffly sheer button-up, silky polka-dot shorts, and orange tank for a little pop of color.  :-)
